Slumping Braves Lose Again, 3-1
The Lexington Legends picked up a win at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, knocking off the Rome Braves, 3-1. Starting pitcher Arturo Valverde played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Valverde. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Ben Strickert. The save was credited to Sheldon Jefferson, his 16th.

The Legends had to work out of trouble with one out in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Lexington. But Rome, with a runner on 1st, had mounted a threat. Damian Corona dug in at the plate. But on a 0-2 curveball, Corona struck out.

The loss makes Rome 28-30.
