Fireflies Secure 2-1 Win
|
The Columbia Fireflies picked up a win at Municipal Stadium, downing the Hagerstown Suns, 2-1. On the mound for Columbia was right-hander Antonio Loza, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Loza. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Tony Alvarez. Steve Voltz recorded the save for Columbia, his 2nd of the season.
Columbia used the hitting of Adrian Jones to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Fireflies on top, 2-0. For the game, Jones had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a hard game, a hard night," said Hagerstown skipper Chris Schneider.
The Fireflies, at 17-42, sit in last place in the Southern Division.
