Kannapolis 39-21 After 8-1 Win Over Columbia
The Kannapolis Intimidators downed the Columbia Fireflies, 8-1, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Stellar pitching by John Roche had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who leads the SAL in complete games with 4, handcuffed his opponent all game. Roche, now 5-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. The second-place Intimidators are 39-21.

Justin Roth, who is tied for 7th in the SAL in stolen bases with 15, contributed to the Kannapolis win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.

"John is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Kannapolis manager Brian Turek.
