Tourists Suffer 3-2 Setback
|
The Asheville Tourists got a superb performance from pitcher Dave Myers. Still, it wasn't enough to beat West Virginia. The Power won the game, 3-2. Myers threw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs. Ricky Olague got credit for the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. The Power sit in 6th place in the Northern Division with a record of 10-51.
Bryan Gibson, the West Virginia first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 3-1, Power. For the game, Gibson was 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Gibson told the West Virginia Citizen. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
