The Rome Braves soundly defeated the Greenville Drive, 11-2, at Fluor Field at the West End. Jouni Ahtisaari, who is tied for 10th in the SAL in RBI with 28, let his bat do the talking. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for Rome. Devin Franz, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 9 innings. The 4th-place Braves have won 6 straight games.

John Davis had a big bases-clearing double for the Braves in the top of the fifth inning. With Rome leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Shane Prince and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 6-2.

Greenville manager Manny Chavez called the blowout loss "just something that happens."
