The Asheville Tourists downed the Rome Braves, 2-1, at State Mutual Stadium. Stellar pitching by T.J. Lawson had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Lawson, the winner, moves to 4-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 6 walks. The Tourists raised their record to 24-38.

Asheville took a 2-1 lead on Brandon Peeples's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Peeples hit in the top of the seventh, left Rome pitcher Matt Rauscher visibly frustrated.

"I liked his command," said Asheville manager Jarrod Dryman. "T.J. was throwing strikes."
