The Kannapolis Intimidators withstood an impressive performance by Hickory center fielder Todd Peters to defeat the Crawdads, 6-3, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Peters went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Kannapolis reliever Alan Rimmer, now 5-1. The loser was Andy Schurmann. The save went to Mel Cruz, his 1st this season.

Matt Schmidl, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in doubles with 18, came through for Kannapolis with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. The second baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 3 runs batted in.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Schmidl told the Kannapolis Gazette.
