Multi-HR Day for Valentine as Fireflies Overpower Drive, 8-0
|
The Columbia Fireflies knocked off the Greenville Drive, 8-0, at Fluor Field at the West End. Jonathan Valentine was a big reason Columbia won. The left fielder slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The win boosted Columbia to 40-23.
With Columbia leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Valentine hit a fastball from Carlos Cardona for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Fireflies ahead, 3-0.
"We had a nice day," said Columbia skipper Robby Vazquez.
