The skies opened up and the rain fell at State Mutual Stadium.
The Rome Braves polished off the Asheville Tourists by the score of 6-1. The largest share of the credit belonged to designated hitter Rich Weston. Weston went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk for the Braves. The win makes Rome 31-35.
Rome took a 2-0 lead on Weston's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Ross Smolnik in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Rome to the win.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Weston after the game.
