Youngs Stars in 6-2 Power Win
|
The West Virginia Power topped the Asheville Tourists, 6-2, at McCormick Field. West Virginia third baseman Jeff Youngs was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3-3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Terry Bacon got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Tourists to no runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. West Virginia has now won 3 straight, while the Tourists have lost 3 in a row.
Youngs had a key at-bat for West Virginia in the top of the second. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 21st home run of the season and gave West Virginia an early 2-0 lead.
"Put the ball in play and good things will happen," said Youngs.
