Tourists Deal Drive 4-2 Loss
|
The Greenville Drive got a sterling performance from pitcher Fred Feightner, but the Asheville Tourists still prevailed, 4-2. Feightner threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. Asheville reliever Chris Stevens picked up the win, upping his record to 8-1. Rodolfo Mireles absorbed the loss. Phil Walton earned the save, his 2nd.
The outcome might have been different for Asheville, had it not been for Jason Samples, the 22-year old center fielder . Samples stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Asheville up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I liked our effort," said Tourists manager Kyle Gehrs.
The Tourists now own a record of 27-40.
