The Rome Braves downed the Columbia Fireflies, 2-0, at State Mutual Stadium. Starring for Rome was pitcher Ben Strickert. Strickert yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-4. Hector Quinteros collected his 9th save.

Manny Taylor had a big run-scoring double for the Braves in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Rome leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Chris Tresidder, who is tied for 5th in the SAL in complete games with 2, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 2-0.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Strickert said after the game.
