Both offenses were relatively subdued at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Fortunately for the Delmarva Shorebirds, though, Scott Scopelliti was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times, to lead his team past the Lakewood BlueClaws, 3-2. Kevin Rodden, who leads the SAL in wins with 9, was the winner in relief. His record is now 9-5. The losing pitcher was Tommy Ruen. Justin Ewing finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Delmarva left fielder Mike Lamb helped the Shorebirds go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Lamb hit a run-scoring single off Lakewood pitcher Tommy Ruen.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Fernando Gomez.
The loss makes Lakewood 38-31.
