RiverDogs Suffer One-Run Loss at Columbia
|
The Columbia Fireflies racked up a win at Spirit Communications Park, bumping off the Charleston RiverDogs, 4-3. William Arce, who started for Columbia, pitched effectively for his team. Arce yielded 3 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-1. The triumph puts Columbia at 38-33 for the season.
Columbia shortstop Sergio Aranda contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Fireflies ahead, 4-0.
After the game, Columbia manager Tony Acosta applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
