Power Rebuff BlueClaws, 2-0
|
The Lakewood BlueClaws wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Willie Maciel, falling, 2-0, to the West Virginia Power at First Energy Park. Ryan Obendorf got the win, improving to 4-4. He worked 5 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Randy Owen earned the save for West Virginia, his 23rd.
Nick Petti, who is tied for 6th in the SAL in stolen bases with 18, had a direct impact on the outcome. Petti contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put West Virginia up, 2-0.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Steve Reinke.
At 43-32, West Virginia is in 4th place in the Northern Division.
