In a tight contest at First Energy Park, the Hagerstown Suns edged the Lakewood BlueClaws by the score of 4-3. Hagerstown designated hitter Javier Aybar, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Mikey Thomas picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-0 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 3 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Daniel Gil picked up the save, his 7th.

Aybar had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-0 sinker from Marcos Montijo, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Suns a 4-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Aybar.

"This was a good win," said Aybar.

The 6th-place Suns now have a record of 24-51.
