Suns Deal Shorebirds 8-2 Defeat
Arthur W. Perdue Stadium was the site for South Atlantic League action featuring the Delmarva Shorebirds and Hagerstown Suns.

Hagerstown pitcher Joel Peterson did his part in helping his team defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds, 8-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Peterson, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs.

Omar Fearson had a big 2-run double for the Suns in the top of the fifth inning. With Hagerstown leading 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Eliason and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Suns ahead, 6-2.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Hagerstown skipper Chris Schneider.

Hagerstown is now 42-34. Delmarva is 31-45.
