The West Virginia Power faced a tough opponent in Hickory pitcher Justin Moga, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Appalachian Power Park by a final score of 4-2. Moga went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Nate Scrivens claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 4-2. The Power improved their record to 42-35 with the win over Hickory.

West Virginia took a 3-2 lead on David Welch's 7th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Welch hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Hickory pitcher Scott Haney visibly frustrated.
