Fireflies Deck Shorebirds, 9-0
|
Delmarva had no answer for Columbia Fireflies starter Raul Delgado, who flummoxed Shorebirds hitters as the Fireflies cruised to victory, 9-0. Delgado, now 5-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The Fireflies sit in second place in the Southern Division with a record of 54-25.
Columbia relied on the bat of Joe Dahl to get the win. The left fielder ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Fireflies ahead, 8-0. For the game, Dahl had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Good win for us," said Delgado. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
