Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Tourists
|
Asheville turned a fine outing from starter Cy Olsen into a victory over the Columbia Fireflies at Spirit Communications Park. The final score was 4-2 in 10 innings. Ryan Brooks earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 2-4. The win puts the Tourists at 50-30, while the Fireflies drop to 27-53.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Bill Peyton? The 20-year old second baseman Peyton stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Asheville up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Cy was dealing," said Asheville manager Jarrod Dryman.
