Grasshoppers Suffer 3-1 Setback
|
The Kannapolis Intimidators defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 3-1, in South Atlantic League action at NewBridge Bank Park. Kannapolis pitcher Matt Osborne had a standout performance. Osborne, now 9-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Marc Stone, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.
Kannapolis used a clutch hit from Jason Nicely to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Intimidators ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Osborne said.
With the win, Kannapolis upped its record to 56-26.
