RiverDogs Go Down to Defeat, 6-1
|
Asheville turned a good performance from starting pitcher Nate Jeffries into a 6-1 triumph over the Charleston RiverDogs at McCormick Field. The Tourists lead the Southern Division by 9 games.
Asheville first baseman Nick Cummings contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 59th hit of the season and put the Tourists ahead, 2-0.
"Nate was outstanding," said Asheville manager Jarrod Dryman.
