Kannapolis Upended, 3-2, by Asheville
The Asheville Tourists and Kannapolis Intimidators played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The Asheville Tourists did just enough to sneak past the Kannapolis Intimidators, 3-2, at McCormick Field. Asheville pitcher Greg Roberts, in particular, had a standout performance. Asheville is second in the Southern Division with a record of 47-36.

George Nelson had a big solo home run for the Tourists in the bottom of the third inning. With Asheville leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a forkball from Marcos Astudillo, who is tied for 8th in the SAL with a 1.10 WHIP, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Tourists on top, 3-1.

After the game, Asheville manager Jarrod Dryman applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
