Late Rally Gets 7-5 Win for Tourists
|
The Asheville Tourists picked up a win at McCormick Field, knocking off the West Virginia Power, 7-5. Starting pitcher Daniel Gradilla played a key role in the triumph. Jim Baker, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. The win puts Asheville at 34-49.
Had Danny Piedrahita not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Piedrahita hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Tourists.
"Good win for us," said Gradilla. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
