Braves Come Back Late, Nip Legends
|
Lexington got a valiant performance from pitcher Josh Roper, but it wasn't enough to beat the Rome Braves. Rome won the game, 2-1. Roper threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. With the win, Rome upped its record to 42-42.
Justin Goldenstein drew 1 walk for Rome. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ed Ford. It was his 12th walk of the season.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Goldenstein said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
