The Hickory Crawdads converted a terrific effort from starter Tom Maki into a win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park. The Crawdads won the game by a final score of 3-2. Maki got the win, improving to 5-4. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The last-place Grasshoppers now sit at 25-59.

Hermenegildo Valbom hit a 2-run triple off Evan Rojas in the top of the fifth, which put the Crawdads in front, 3-2. Valbom had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 4.

"Tom is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Hickory manager Jordan Castro.
