In a tight game between the Hickory Crawdads and the Hagerstown Suns, nobody was more important for the winners than Josh Cipolla. Cipolla was masterful in the 2-0 win. The winner was Hagerstown reliever Carlos Pineda, now 1-0. The loser was Cameron Phelps. The save was credited to Chad Klausman, his 12th.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Cipolla hit a 2-run double off Cameron Phelps. It propelled the Suns into the lead, 2-0.

Afterward, Suns manager Chris Schneider was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."

With this game in the books, Hagerstown is 56-28, Hickory 44-40.
