Tourists 5-1 Winners Over Greenville
|
David Soto, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in holds with 5, imposed his will on the Drive from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Asheville triumph. The winning pitcher was Soto, now 4-0. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Xavier Wester got credit for the save for Asheville. It was his 3rd of the year.
The Tourists got a big at-bat from left fielder Brandon Peeples. For the game, Peeples was 1 for 5 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 5th triple of the season gave Asheville a 3-1 lead.
"I felt good up there," said Peeples. "I saw the ball well."
Asheville, now 52-32, holds down first place in the Southern Division.
