Fireflies Keep Streak Alive With 2-1 Win
|
Chris Tresidder was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at NewBridge Bank Park. In fact, the Columbia Fireflies right-hander was instrumental in his team's 2-1 victory over the Greensboro Grasshoppers. In 6 innings, Tresidder surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Columbia, now 61-24, has stretched its winning streak to 11 games.
Gil Berrios had a big solo home run for the Fireflies in the top of the third inning. With Columbia leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Tyler Stegman, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2104 draft, and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Fireflies on top, 2-0.
"Tough loss," said Greensboro manager Ryan Parkins. "The kind that burns a little inside."
