5-1 Win Gets West Virginia to 55-31
|
Soggy conditions did not keep West Virginia and Columbia from playing their scheduled game.
Jeff Youngs knocked in 3 runs to help West Virginia beat Columbia, 5-1. The Oakwood Hills, Illinois native tallied 2 singles and 1 home run. The winner was Edwin Colomer, who threw 66 pitches over 5.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 3 hits. Jason Sims closed it out for his 2nd save.
West Virginia took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Youngs hit a 3-run home run. His 24th home run of the season made the score 4-1, West Virginia.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said West Virginia manager Jose Minera.
The Power improved their record to 55-31 with the win over Columbia.
