The Hagerstown Suns racked up a win at Municipal Stadium, bumping off the Columbia Fireflies, 1-0. Ryan Thibeault, who started for Hagerstown, pitched effectively for his team. Thibeault, now 5-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Eric Kilby earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Suns had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when catcher Mike Bianchi hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Mike Horn and made the score 1-0, Suns. Bianchi went 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
"That was a really good outing by Ryan," said Hagerstown manager Chris Schneider.
Hagerstown now has a record of 43-43 with the win.
