The Charleston RiverDogs had to reckon with Rome Braves hurler Victor Serrano. Serrano, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in wins with 10, overwhelmed the opposition in the 8-1 Braves triumph. The second-place Braves hiked their record to 52-37.

The RiverDogs had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Braves going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old first baseman Glaucio Aspera came to the plate. Aspera hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 fastball from Charleston hurler Josh Allen. It was Aspera's 9th double of the year.

"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Aspera told the Rome Times.
