The Greensboro Grasshoppers picked up a win at NewBridge Bank Park, dropping the West Virginia Power, 4-2. Simone Herran was the difference-maker. Herran yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-2. Danny Ruiz picked up the save for Greensboro, his 10th of the year.

Tim Watts had a big 2-run double for the Grasshoppers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Greensboro leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Mondragon and swatted a double to center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grasshoppers ahead, 4-0.

"Simone was pumping the zone," said Greensboro manager Josh Lex.

Greensboro is now 27-62, West Virginia 48-41.
