Intimidators Upend Fireflies, 2-1
|
The Kannapolis Intimidators got a strong performance from pitcher Travis Yeager, who stymied the Columbia offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Spirit Communications Park. The save went to Tony Gomez, his 20th this season. The Northern Division-leading Intimidators are 73-17.
Kannapolis used the timely hitting of Chris Fries to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Intimidators on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Kannapolis manager B.J. Sabol.
