The performance of Juan Cortez proved critical in helping Augusta beat Lexington, 9-1. The GreenJackets catcher was 3-3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Mario Correa got the win, improving to 10-4. He worked 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. William Wise collected save number 2.

Ryan McClure had a big 3-run home run for the GreenJackets in the bottom of the third inning. With Augusta leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Danny Nash, who is tied for 10th in the SAL with a 1.11 WHIP, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 14th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the GreenJackets ahead, 4-0.

"It feels good to get this one," Cortez told the Augusta Observer.
