The Augusta GreenJackets topped the Lexington Legends, 6-1, in South Atlantic League action at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Augusta pitcher Chase Allen. Allen picked up the win for Augusta, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-3. The GreenJackets are now 51-41, while the Legends fall to 45-47.
Left Fielder Chris Taylor made an impact for Augusta, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Juan Padilla in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Taylor was 1-4 with a double.
Said losing manager Rich Freedland: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
