The Columbia Fireflies and Lexington Legends delighted fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Lexington Legends downed the Columbia Fireflies, 4-0, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Steve Barney had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in wins with 8, handcuffed his opponent all game. Brent Beaver earned the save, his 4th, for the Legends.

Barney, who was born in Farmington, Minnesota, threw 90 pitches over 7.1 innings, while allowing no runs.

"Steve did a good job keeping the game under control," said Lexington manager Rich Freedland.

The Legends improved their record to 55-37 with the win over Columbia.
