Greensboro shortstop Lance Plouffe was sensational. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Hickory beat the Grasshoppers, 7-5. The win went to Alex Rangel in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jesus Rangel took the loss. Myles Haggard collected save number 10.

It could have been a different outcome for Hickory, had it not been for Lance Bennett, the 22-year old catcher . Bennett contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Hickory up, 7-5.

"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Bennett.

Hickory, at 37-56, holds down 6th place in the Northern Division.
