The Columbia Fireflies got a sterling performance from pitcher Julio Rolon, but the Asheville Tourists still prevailed, 4-3. Rolon threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Asheville reliever Danny Marroquin picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Tim Ridenhour was tagged with the loss. Chris Stevens was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.

Had Esteban Galante not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Galante hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Tourists.

Galante told a Asheville Herald reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The Tourists move to 37-58 with the win, while the Fireflies drop to 60-35.
