The Lakewood BlueClaws beat the Kannapolis Intimidators, 5-2, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. The BlueClaws got a fine performance from right fielder Michael Pippy, who was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. The BlueClaws saw their record improve to 27-70.
Lakewood took a 4-2 lead on Pippy's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off R.J. MacLean in the top of the seventh, propelled Lakewood to the win.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said Lakewood manager Steve Reinke. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
