The rain did not keep Columbia and Lexington from finishing their game.

Columbia got a strong outing from Chris Tresidder as the Fireflies defeated the Lexington Legends, 5-2, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Carlos Hernandez was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.

It could have been a different outcome for Columbia, had it not been for Ryan DeLong, the 26-year old catcher . DeLong contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Columbia up, 2-0.

"I thought we played a nice game," DeLong told the Columbia Daily News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

Columbia leads the Southern Division by 12 games.
