Rome wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Francisco Caban, losing to West Virginia, 2-0, at State Mutual Stadium. Nate Scrivens finished the game for West Virginia and earned his 13th save. The first-place Power, at 67-34, now lead their division by 10 games.
Steve Greving had a direct impact on the outcome. Greving contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put West Virginia up, 2-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Rome manager Tim Helfrich.
