Fireflies Stymied by Braves, Strickert
|
The Columbia Fireflies had their hands full with Rome Braves starter Ben Strickert, who frustrated Columbia hitters while leading Rome to a comfortable, 6-0 win. The win makes Rome 49-52.
Strickert tossed 97 pitches over 7.1 innings to clinch the win for the Braves. The right-hander allowed just 1 hit, while racking up 8 strikeouts in the game.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Strickert. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
