Tourists Get Clutch Win Versus Kannapolis
The Asheville Tourists had to overcome a good performance from Kannapolis pitcher Ian Cross to claim a 3-2 win at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Cross went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ryan Brooks, who is tied for 6th in the SAL in saves with 12, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He upped his record to 4-6. The defeat makes Kannapolis 62-41.

Bill Peyton, who leads the SAL with a .922 OPS, had a direct impact on the outcome. Peyton contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Asheville up, 3-2.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Tourists," said Peyton.
