Rutherford Drills 2 Homers in 7-2 Delmarva Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Delmarva Shorebirds and Lakewood BlueClaws.
The Delmarva Shorebirds stymied the Lakewood BlueClaws, 7-2, at First Energy Park. Brooke Rutherford had a good day at the plate. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for Delmarva. Kyle Butler picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-2. He struck out 4 in 6 innings.
Delmarva took a 7-2 lead on Rutherford's 9th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Guillermo Guzman in the top of the sixth, propelled Delmarva to the win.
Rutherford said his team "played with focus."
The 6th-place BlueClaws now sit at 48-55.
