Chris McCormack led the Lexington Legends to a nifty 6-3 win over the Columbia Fireflies. The Lexington shortstop was a force of nature. He banged out 3 extra-base hits, including 2 home runs and 1 double. Steve Barney, the winner, goes to 7-7. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts over 7 innings. Mike Garner was called on to finish, recording his 19th save.

McCormack had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-1 curveball from Tommy Owens, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Legends a 5-3 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for McCormack.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Columbia manager Tony Acosta.

The win puts the Legends at 54-50, while the Fireflies drop to 37-67.
