Arce, Fireflies Stop Crawdads, 2-0
|
The Columbia Fireflies picked up a win at L.P. Frans Stadium, dropping the Hickory Crawdads, 2-0. William Arce, who is tied for 7th in the SAL in strikeouts with 124, was the difference-maker. Justin Meyer, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. The defeat makes Hickory 54-53.
Arce made it look effortless. He scattered 1 hit over 7.2 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. The Columbia left-hander encountered little resistance from the Hickory hitters. His season record is now 9-2.
"William is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Columbia manager Tony Acosta.
