Hickory Scrapes Out 9-8 Win
The Hickory Crawdads beat the Columbia Fireflies, 9-8, in 10 innings at L.P. Frans Stadium. Hickory designated hitter Ryan Keeny led the way. He went 4 for 6 with 4 singles, while scoring 4 times. Hickory reliever Jeff Rice picked up the win to move to 4-0. Jesus Alvarado suffered the loss. The 6th-place Fireflies dropped to 50-58.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Hickory center fielder Drew Mooney, facing Jesus Alvarado, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Crawdads the 9-8 win.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Columbia manager Mike Keeney.
