A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Columbia Fireflies and Delmarva Shorebirds.

The Columbia Fireflies faced a tough opponent in Delmarva pitcher Wilson Condori, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium by a final score of 2-1. Condori went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Columbia reliever Tim Ridenhour picked up the win, while Mike McLaughlin took the loss for Delmarva. Matt Long recorded the save, his 10th.

Columbia used the timely hitting of Gabriel Gonzales to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fireflies on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"The want-to is there for our guys," said Delmarva manager Nick Lombardi. "We'll get this thing turned around."

Columbia is in second place in the Southern Division with a record of 69-39.
