The Hagerstown Suns had to overcome a fine effort from Columbia pitcher Jorge Chavez to win, 4-3, in 10 innings at Municipal Stadium. Chavez went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. John Jenkins got credit for the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Suns raised their record to 62-48.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Hagerstown designated hitter J.J. Braun, facing Matt Perez, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Suns the 4-3 win.

"This game will make a man of you," said Chris Schneider, the Hagerstown skipper, "if it doesn't kill you first."
