GreenJackets Edge Braves, 4-3
|
The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
Augusta starter Mark Doolittle pitched effectively against the Rome Braves at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Doolittle yielded no runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 8-1. John Remy notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
Augusta third baseman Kellen Leto contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a splitter to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 75th hit of the season and put the GreenJackets ahead, 4-0.
"It's a mindset," said Doolittle. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
With the win, Augusta has a record of 52-59. Rome falls to 53-58.
