Kevin Snyder pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The West Virginia Power, despite Snyder's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Asheville Tourists at Appalachian Power Park. Freddie Forshee, 2-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. Neung-uk Lee, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
Tim Jennings could have done more damage. In the bottom of the ninth, with West Virginia trailing 3-0, West Virginia had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Jennings hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough. Asheville would go on to win the game.
Asheville occupies second place in the Southern Division at 62-50.
