In a low-scoring contest between the Delmarva Shorebirds and the Hickory Crawdads, Kyle Butler, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in quality starts with 12, proved to be the difference. The Delmarva left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Shorebirds win. Butler, now 8-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Danny Spruill, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.

Delmarva used the timely hitting of Edwin Morell to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Shorebirds on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Butler.

The 4th-place Crawdads now sit at 59-53.
