Greenville got a strong outing from Gary Chancey as the Drive defeated the Asheville Tourists, 3-1, at Fluor Field at the West End. John Collins was credited with the save for Greenville, his 3rd of the season. The 5th-place Drive raised their record to 53-59.

Frank Kravitz dealt the Tourists a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Greenville leading 1-0, Kravitz, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in extra base hits with 41, hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Greenville manager Jerry Jones said.
