Tourists Lose at Home, 6-1
|
Augusta turned a good effort from starter Nick Lapping into a win over the Asheville Tourists at McCormick Field. The GreenJackets won the game, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Lapping, now 6-2. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Augusta is now 53-58, while Asheville is 68-43.
Steve Brown had a big run-scoring triple for the GreenJackets in the top of the second inning. With Augusta leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from Eric Fox, who is tied for 10th in the SAL in complete games with 1, and swatted a triple to left. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the GreenJackets ahead, 2-0.
"Nick gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Augusta skipper Tony Guerrero.
